Zebras are the mascot
for Carcinoid and other Neuroendocrine Tumor
(NETS) patients.
It is said that
medical schools teach:
“If you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras.”
Neuroendocrine tumors
are rare and thus can be considered medical zebras.
The community of NETS patients wants to remind
and encourage physicians
to be on the lookout for the zebra that can graze among
the medical horses.
